2015, Kyoto Japan

It was such a blessing to have been given an opportunity to visit the land of the rising sun again. It was the 2nd trip within a month apart and i left it to the very last minute to surprise the kids that this family trip isn’t just the four of us but with their favourite aunties and grandparents as well. IMG_0096

No doubt they were overjoyed with excitement!
IMG_0123

And so was i.. Family trips are just the best.. loads of bonding moments with love ones which we spend too little time with.

It was also a trip to surprise my beautiful sister in law’s birthday. Her endless smiles on the face was simply priceless when she saw us at the airport. IMG_0143

I’m so thankful to be bless with these beautiful people in my life.
IMG_0116

I have the best sister in laws in the world.. they helped babysit the kids almost throughout the whole trip.. even at night.. which means hubs and i get a chance to spend some alone time and check out the salsa scene in Kyoto.IMG_0155

The bar was a tad bit smaller than we expected but filled with passionate dancers who takes turn on the dance floor. IMG_0166

People there as usual were extremely friendly even to foreigners like ourselves.IMG_0159

So the hubs managed to steal a couple of dances as well..

Our visit in Kyoto was rather short but we did managed to squeeze some time to visit the beautiful Bamboo Grove in Arashiyama.

IMG_0243

A rather peaceful garden that brings us back to embracing the beauty of nature.

Do you like our family T-shirt? You can get yours at Sticking_Out I totally adore these T-shirts. Thank you so much @sticking_out

The view was simply breathtaking.. with hues of gold, green, yellow, pink and red..IMG_0220

Despite the beautiful scenic view and treasured bonding moments with everyone, we took our indulgence on food quite seriously during our 2 nights stay in Kyoto..

2015, Tokyo Japan Day 8 (10.10.15)

Happy 6th year anniversary to my dearest husband!

image

It was the last day in Tokyo, Japan and the past 8 days has been nothing less but amazing (except day 6). Our plane home was in the late afternoon so we had a fair bit of time to burn before heading to the airport.

As usual, we headed out early in the morning to search for breakfast. My little girl had a burst of appetite. She suddenly decided to eat eat and eat continuously one after the other.
image image image image image image image image image image I had no complains at all.. even though was really shocked with her sudden burst of appetite. I totally love watching her eat..it’s a really really rare sight!

The husband and i enjoyed some freshly made onigiri as well.. his was a normal Sake with Ikura (salmon fish with salmon eggs)
image imageMine was filled with Mentaiko. It was superb!!!

Soon after, we headed back to the hotel and grab our bags to head to the airport. The ride to the airport took us a good 40 mins.. so the little girl sat on daddy’s lap and took a nap. It was one of the most precious sight i have seen this trip. #fatherdaughterlove.
imageWhen we finally reached the airport, thats when it suddenly hit me.. this is it, we’re heading home to the horrendous weather thanks to the haze!

I was a little sad that the trip has finally come to an end. So, i asked the kids.. (“who wants to come back to Japan again?”) Their reaction was simply priceless.
image

As we board our plane (we sat ANA Airlines) i was so grateful that their service was nothing less but polite and thoughtful all the way. They constantly checked on me and the kids. Provide us with bottles of water as well as juice. They even gave the kids cards to play. It really nice of them. They served the kids such adorable meals as well (without me requesting). There was certainly a huge difference in sitting a Japanese airlines compared to others. It was totally an eye opening experience.
image
Can’t wait until the next visit to Japan again. *i heart Japan* 🙂

image

*Side note to husband* – Thank you for being so wonderful in so many ways and this amazing 8 days trip! 🙂

2015, Tokyo Japan Day 7

The whole of Day 6 i was stuck in bed and most definitely i wasn’t going to let this food poisoning exploit my holiday away. I was feeling a tad bit better that i could keep my head up high without feeling the urge to run to the toilet or find the nearest plastic bag.

So, i got up and perked myself up with some makeup and decided to head out to the electronics town!

My daughter had the chance of wearing her new cloak out as well which daddy bought for her in DisneyLand the day before. She’s completely hooked with frozen fever, as you can already see.
image

image Upon reaching Akihabara, we decided to bring the kids to have an experience at the Maid’s Cafe (a unique one of a kind cafe where you see ladies/girls dressed up as a maid/maiden and act cute in front of you)image

Momma’s little girl obviously found the place amusing. 🙂 image

image

Photos of the maid/maiden were not allowed… but we did somehow accidentally managed to capture a few shots of them behind us. image

image

Everything they served were cuteness overloaded. image

image Okay, maybe not this one in particular, but she (the maid/maiden) did try her best. 🙂

Before we left, to commemorate our trip to the Maid’s Cafe, the little ones had a photo taken with them.
image

We then headed for a walk at the Asakusa Shrine as well as pay our yearly respect before we headed over for lunch. I had to be rather watchful over the things i eat as i was still under medication and recovery.

But how on earth can i resist thisssssss!!!

image

The perfect tamago. image

The bowl of specially seasoned seafood batter with rice.

image

So.. i told myself.. eat first, settle later (total glutton i know! ) >.<

image

Being a little unwell, we decided to head back to Shinjuku a little earlier and explore the malls nearby before heading back to the hotel to rest.

We came across these premium yogurt which was AMAZING!!! image Although being unwell, this did not stop me from trying them. It was so good! We ended up buying a few tubs to keep in the fridge for dessert after dinner. 🙂

By dinner time, the husband suggested a wonderful place to try out walking distance from our hotel.. image

Like always, good food brings smiles across my face even with little appetite. 🙂

image

imageNeedless to say, the food was amazing!

2015, Tokyo Japan Day 6

This is definitely one of the worst day among the whole trip in Japan. I am never in my life eating CoCo Ichiban again! Be it in Malaysia or Japan or any other countries.

I spent the night literally puking until i wanted to die. Every 15 minutes i had to either tilt my head towards the plastic bag or gag until something comes out in the toilet. It was so bad.

It was definitely the seafood i ate in CoCo Ichiban. Everyone else was fine, but me (THANK GOD FOR THAT COZ IF THE KIDS WERE AS SICK AS I WAS.. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ALOT WORSE).

The poor hubs even ran out to the pharmacy to get me some sort of medication at wee hours in the morning, hoping to give me some relief…but na da~ nothing works!

Once the sun was up, i was admitted to the nearest hospital and had to be on drip.

Food poisoning + gastronomy disorder. (I literally puked until i had gastric! )
image

I felt incredibly ill that i was so thankful to my awesome husband that had settled both kids that morning and yet taken such good care of me the whole night.
image

Needless to say, Day 6 wasn’t at all fun! After i was discharged from the hospital.. i was sent back to the hotel to rest.

And so i did.. i slept the whole Day 6 away!

imageI’m guessing not many people knew about this (not at all eventful day) as i did not post it up in my instagram. But don’t be too surprised, it can happen to anyone at anytime.

So i’ve learnt my lesson and i’m most certainly bringing medication to whatever trips that i’m going for in the future! YOU SHOULD TOO!!!

2015, Tokyo Japan Day 5

On Day 5, it’s the photobomb day!!!

A day at Disneyland! The kids were overjoyed when they heard that we were going to go Disneyland. It was my first time as well. 😛 Being all excited we headed off early in the morning. The skies were beautiful that morning unlike the horrible haze polluting Malaysia’s air and environment.

image
I remember looking up at these smokey clouds feeling so blessed and thankful to be breathing clean air at that very moment. Never in my life will i ever take it for granted.

As we head towards The Kingdom of Fantasy, we bought some sandwiches for the kids.. which they love so much!
image

image

I just love watching them eat.. 🙂 image The ride took us a good 30 mins before we finally arrived our destination. My boy was so excited that he smiled and laughed until we literally can’t see his eyes. HAHHAH.

We finally reached and it was time to take loads of photos!
image

image

image

imageimageimage

image

There were limited rides that my kids could ride on (due to height restrictions) but that was alright for us as we were there to mainly explore and be exposed to the fun surroundings!

I must say that surprisingly, even though the rides seems to have a long line all the time, however the wait for each ride wasn’t that bad at all. It took us a good 20 min wait only for each ride we had. Unlike our previous trip to HK Disneyland.. it was pure torture, one hour per ride. >.<

image

imageimage

image

image

Some rides were just a little too overwhelming for him..
image

We also visited Cinderella and the kids had a geez of playing a particular character as well. 😛

image

image

imageI totally wish i have a comfortable glass shoe/slipper like this..

Snacks as usual is a must for us to recharge. We totally dig this!

image

image

image

And ice cream as well.

image

image

I was lucky enough to have my son drove me for the very first time in a car race.

image

while daddy’s little girl drove him around and won the race. (sure win laa, she started driving before they blew the whistle).

image
imageAt the parade, the kids were overjoyed as the saw Disney characters live in action. image

Did i mention the kids loves watching toy story? Being a toy story fan.. they insisted to take photo with *kiss kiss* as they called these alien looking creatures. image

By the time we were done, it was already almost dinner time so we headed back and decided on something fast, and easy.

Coco Ichiban. How can we go wrong with these ugly but delicious meal, right?image

image

image

image

Once done feeding ourselves, we headed back feeling completely exhausted and in urge to recuperate for Day 6.

2015, Tokyo Japan Day 4

It was our 4th day traveling at this remarkable country and we decided to spend the day in Ueno sight seeing plus bring the kids to the zoo. How can we visit Tokyo and not visit the zoo in such perfect weather, right?
image

We headed for breakfast nearby.. image

Oh yeah~ this sandwich was soooo good!

image

We headed to Ueno Park once we finished up with breakfast.

It was only a couple of stations away, so we reached our destination really fast. Just outside the zoo, there were a man performing tricks and aecrobatics. It was rather remarkable and entertaining even though i can barely understand a single word of what he was saying.

The kids LOVED the performances. image

We then head on into the zoo. The kids were so excited! image
image

imageHere are a few of the animals we saw. 🙂 imageimageimage

They even have a section just for kids. A wide range of farm animals for kids to see, learn, and play with the animals. imageimageimage

After a good 3 hours, we finally finished walking the whole zoo.image

We then headed over to Ueno’s market in search for lunch. image

It’s a long street that consists of a variety of food, clothes, souvenirs, shoes and more. We simply couldn’t resist… so we just bought some snacks that was sold along the road to eat. imageimage

One of the uncle was so kind that he even offered my boy some biscuits as well. (japanese people are really so thoughtful and nice).

As we went further in, we stopped for some seafood. I was thinking to myself this amazing market sells everything! imageimageimage

We then had some panda buns and desserts. image

image

Our walk along the market probably took us a good 2 hours. We then headed back to Shinjuku and headed for dinner.

It was our 2nd time this trip that we’re back having this amazing bowl of .. (yes it was that good that we got to eat it for the 2nd time!) imageimage

After that, we walked along the streets and malls of shinjuku and decided to stop by for some desserts. (By now, i’m sure you can guess i am rather a dessert person). imageimage

I guess, this little one got her mommy genes. 🙂

After that, it was time to head back home for some rest in preparation for our day 5 adventure!

Our day 4 passed by with such enlightening experiences, priceless faces on both of our children, and a full on colourful adventure that i would most certainly want to do again!

2015, Tokyo Japan Day 3

Been back home for a good 3 weeks and i am already missing the food in  japan already!

Day 3 of my Tokyo trip started with amazing Onigiri. These were bought at the convenient store at shinjuku train station, just a walk away from our hotel.

image

Needless to say, my kids loves the onigiri! image image

This is my all time favourite.. image

We had a great deal of things to EAT for that day on our list (Japan is all about food, food and more food for us). 🙂 We decided to wait for the human traffic to reduced before we headed out.. We headed to Harajuku soon after we finished with the mission to shop and most importantly to eat eat eat…

12107907_10153727429478092_6330306340283495757_n

In Harajuku, the all time famous must try were known to be the Marion Crepes. I had the exact same thing back in 2010.. Click here! You can read about it. 🙂

image

This time around with the kids (knowing that they probably won’t be able to finish one whole crepe) i decided to get them an alternative. image

image

Their faces were simply priceless… endless smiles from the first bite to their last..

As for the crepe.. this is how it looks like.. folded inside with whipped cream, ice cream, syrup, bananas, strawberries, chocolate… its a complete full package of FAT FAT FAT in one package!! *but it was sooo worth it*image

It’s almost as big as my face.. no kidding!!image

We then walked around.. shop a little and soon after headed to eat Ichiran Ramen.

image

The above without chilli is for the kids. Don’t get me wrong, my kids were not sharing.. My boy finished one whole bowl himself.

The broth is made from pork but weirdly enough.. it didn’t have any porky smell like what we get in Malaysia. (which i can’t stand.. as some of you know, I’m allergic to pork.. but no worries…i had stood by some medication just in case of allergy reaction. YES I’M GOING ALL OUT ON THIS TRIP… ALLERGIC ALSO I EAT!)

image

The egg was the BESSSSSSTTT…

image

Once we were finished we headed back to the train station to head back to the hotel to get some rest.. but on the way back we couldn’t resist the smell  as we walked past the The Famous Gindako Takoyaki!!!!!!! These were made fresh on the spot. image

Soon after, we headed back to the hotel and gotten ready for dinner time! 🙂

It was rather random but we simply walked into one building searching for good Yakiniku.. image

we had.. mushrooms.

image

scallops.imagebeef.
image

this was their famous… but i didn’t really fancy it.. it’s beef mixed with a variety of vegetables.. however the beef seems to be so chewy (because its filled with fats.. some would call it collagen). After two pieces, i surrender and gave the rest to the husband to finish while i had the vegetables instead.image
For the kids, we ordered scallop porridge. Tasted pretty good! image

grilling these babies required some skills..imageanother plate of beef…because it was that good!image

This plate of beef was seasoned. I personally prefer the first plate of beef that we ordered.

And thats it for our food adventure for day 3.

2015 Tokyo, Japan Day 2

The day started of as early as 6am! I totally forgot all about daylight savings in Japan (because its non existence in Malaysia) and worked my way up once the sun is up. I got myself ready, and soon after the kids and husband as well.

As always, the urge to eat when we’re in Japan is always on high alert. We went down to the convenient store and got a simple sandwich and yogurt before we started of our day. I’m always so amazed at how amazing their sandwiches are. It’s all so soft and fluffy.. i think it could be their water that seems to make everything taste that much better! 🙂 image

Day 2 was a long traveling day. A local japanese friend of ours drove us to Hakone temple to pray and show respects. It’s actually our yearly affair. A must for us as its known to bring us good luck, health and success in whatever we do/want to do.

On our way over, we made a quick stop for sinful SNACKS!
image

The journey took us about an hour plus before we finally reached out destination.

image

image

We walked and walked and walked…

That’s our little friend Jun Jun..

image

The above walking didn’t last too long.. soon..

imageThe husband regretted for not allowing me to bring along the stroller to Hakone.. and i’m sure you can see why!?! (I couldn’t decide if i should laugh or cry on his behalf.. hhahaha!)

After paying our respects and praying for blessed wishes we headed of to EAT EAT EAT!

image

image

For lunch we had amazing sushi! It was our first official sushi in Tokyo and it will certainly mark an amazing memory. It was remarkably fresh and tasty that all of us just ate and ate and ate.

image

image

image
The day went by with loads more walking, some shopping and the hour plus ride back home..(no photos during shopping time) by the time we reached back to our hotel.. we were all exhausted.

I walked so much despite me wearing my comfortable shoes that i have a big blister just to prove it! But, its obviously all worth it! 🙂

image

The night ended rather simple but utmost fulfilling as we had burgers for dinner/supper!!! (super awesome overloaded.. i can’t even recall the last time i had a burger before this day) !

image

Can’t wait to do it all over again next year! 🙂

2015 Tokyo, Japan Day 1

Japan is a country to love. Who wouldn’t love Japan, anyway? The weather is amazing (completely haze free), the food is fantastic, the people are so courteous and kind, everything you see is out of the extraordinary… there’s isn’t a possible reason i could think of anything bad to say about Japan.

Our Journey began many months before the date we flew. I was so excited that i packed one week ahead.. planning what i need to get for the trip and not overloading the luggage with clothes that we probably wouldn’t need. The kids were extremely excited as well (mind you, this wasn’t their first trip..but 2nd) constantly asking… “are we going to japan tomorrow?”

When the day finally arrived, we woke up rather early and set of for an adventure at wee hours in the morning and there were no whines, cries or even a complain.

image

Needless to say, both my monkeys were very much happily wide awake as well!

image

image

Our 6 hours journey went by without us even noticing. Once landed and settled out of the airport, it was about 4pm, our mission to hunt down good food begins. It has always been our family tradition.. good food comes hand in hand when we travel.

We first had to have our quick fix of onigiri.. *it’s totally ironic how rice and some tiny fillings can taste so good* image

Our next stop was to have this amazing bowl of *YUMSSS* (KaisenDon at Kabukicho, Shinjuku) I swear it tastes so good that i can even consume two bowls if i had not controlled myself. The kids themselves shared a bowl and consumed it up in a jiffy!!

It simply melts in the mouth with every single bite.. a sweet and salty mixture of ikura (salmon eggs) torro (tuna belly) and uni (sea urchin). The exquisite tastes was simply divine.. One generous bowl as such costs a good round up figure of RM50 (thanks to the current exchange rate).

image

Needless to say, after dinner… it was dessert time.. honey melon, ice creams, lasts but not least me and my kid’s must have yogurt before bed!

imageimage

Stay tuned for Day2!

Glutton me!

20110414-064107.jpg

Yup! I’m a glutton since young. Food is my bestfriend as well as my worst enemy! How am I ever going to get my figure back?!?
My recent trip to Singapore is filled with a round tour of heavenly indulged variety of food! But my trip would have never been complete without having at least one of these…

20110414-064308.jpg

20110414-064610.jpg

The burger made from rice as patty with beef is one of my favorites!

20110414-064801.jpg

It simply melts in the mouth!!! No joke! Anyone going to Singapore please ta pau back for me! 🙂
